Why block paving needs more upkeep than solid paving
Every joint between blocks is a place for weed seed, moss spores and dirt to collect, which is why block paving typically needs cleaning more often than a single continuous slab surface. Kiln-dried sand in the joints, refreshed regularly, is what keeps blocks locked in place and denies weeds the gap they need to establish.
Where weeds have already taken hold in the joints, hand weeding at £28 an hour clears them roots-out before the wash, since simply washing over established weeds leaves the roots to regrow within weeks.
