SEASONAL CARE

    Winter Lawn Care in Cambridge

Winter lawn care in Cambridge means protecting the grass from damage rather than actively growing it. Avoid walking on frozen or waterlogged turf, keep fallen leaves cleared to prevent smothering, and hold off mowing unless there is a mild spell with visible growth. If you do mow in winter, set the blade high at 40mm or above.

ELawnCare provides winter maintenance visits across CB1 to CB25. Winter visits are typically monthly and cover leaf clearance, a light mow if needed, and a general check. The £40 minimum visit applies. Monthly plans take 10% off and run through winter at a reduced frequency.

What to do with your lawn in winter

Keep leaves off the lawn. A thick layer of leaves blocks light and traps moisture, encouraging fungal disease. Clear them weekly through November and December. Avoid walking on frozen grass because the blades snap and leave brown footprint marks that take weeks to recover.

Do not fertilise in winter. The grass is dormant and will not absorb nutrients. Any feed applied now will wash away or encourage weak growth that frost kills. Save feeding for April when growth resumes.

    Winter maintenance visits

ELawnCare offers reduced-frequency visits through winter, typically monthly. These cover leaf clearance, a high mow if the grass has grown, and a check for moss or waterlogging. Monthly plans continue at 10% off. The minimum visit charge is £40.

No. Leaves block light and trap moisture, causing the grass to yellow and encouraging fungal disease. Clear leaves weekly from October through December. A leaf blower or rake works for small areas. ELawnCare includes leaf clearance in maintenance visits.
