Hard or worn soil: consider aeration
Aeration opens the soil around the roots and can help relieve compaction. Small lawns are hand-aerated; powered aeration on larger lawns depends on suitable access. Persistent standing water needs assessment because aeration cannot guarantee a drainage solution.
For lawns under 100m², hand aeration is £1.80/m² with a £125 minimum. For lawns of 100m² or more, powered aeration starts at £0.85/m²; aerator hire and delivery are itemised in your confirmed quote. The £190 renovation package is a separate service, not an aeration-only price.
Surface thatch or moss: consider scarification
Scarification removes accumulated surface material. It can leave the lawn looking temporarily thinner, so discuss whether seed is also needed. It is separate from aeration and is only recommended where the condition warrants it.
Full-lawn scarification is £1.25/m² with a £95 minimum for one standard pass. Our scarifier handles larger lawns too; extra passes, heavy thatch and off-site waste removal are priced separately. Targeted scarification is included where needed in the £190 renovation package.
Thin grass or bare patches: consider overseeding
Adds fresh grass seed to an existing lawn to improve coverage and help fill thin areas. Our renovation package includes overseeding across the whole lawn.
Standalone overseeding is £0.65/m² with a £60 minimum. Grass seed and spreading are included over a suitably prepared lawn. Scarification, aeration and other preparation are separate services.
Lawn renovation from £190 for around 70m², with whole-lawn aeration and overseeding, targeted scarification where needed and topsoil on bare or damaged areas. Grass seed and topsoil are included in the agreed quote.

Fallen leaves: book clearance rather than renovation
If the main issue is fallen leaves covering the grass, ask for leaf clearance. This removes the surface debris and lets us see the lawn beneath. It does not automatically call for scarification or overseeding. Leaf clearance has its own package pricing and scope; use the leaf-clearance page or send photos for a quote.

Conditions, aftercare and Cambridge coverage
Not every task is needed each year. We assess the lawn, its use and access before recommending a combination. If seed is included, plan for watering and protecting recovering areas; we provide mowing and aftercare guidance for the agreed treatment.

Guide rates are for standard work on accessible lawns up to 300m². The minimum shown is for that service booked on its own; combined work receives one written quote. For powered aeration on lawns of 100m² or more, aerator hire and delivery are itemised in the confirmed quote. Additional scarifier passes, difficult access and off-site waste removal are agreed separately. Larger or more extensive jobs are individually quoted. No guide price is a confirmed quote.
